A Vegetable Gardening Style Has Its Own Personality
Your Own Vegetable Garden - What Style To Choose?
Let's talk about vegetables! Each gardener has his own set of characteristics that make him fit for certain gardening styles. If you know yourself and the right gardening style that will fit your rearing of your organic garden and help you yield your vegetables effectively, then you have pretty much gotten an edge over other gardening enthusiasts.
But, with that said, what are the different types of gardening in which to choose? Here are a few garden types to consider:
Residential Gardening Technique
This is the most common of all gardening techniques. If you are just a beginner and not yet inclined to produce vegetables for industrial reasons, then residential gardening is for you.
The primary purpose of residential gardening is to feed a family or two with a steady flow of vegetables and at the same time, render appeal to your backyard.
Residential gardening does not require very much space and can be cultivated in window sills, balconies and other small areas that have sufficient light source, easy to monitor and at the same time, easy to maintain or free from pests.
The good thing about residential gardening is the ease with which it ushers the gardening wannabe from having no knowledge of planting to expanding to other gardening styles, whichever deems the fancy of the budding gardener.
Specialized gardening
involves non-residential areas that are known for
its green quality and are often marketed as such.
Parks, botanical gardens, amusement parts and other
tourist attractions fall under this
category. Often a staff is required to
maintain due to its size, so effective
administrative skills on top of gardening expertise
may be required. It is also tailored for delivering
in profit to certain causes or
organizations. What Is Impact Gardening?
If you are up to the challenge of blocking weeds with minimal costs, then impact gardening is for you. It involves using a relatively small space and maximizing its gardening potential. The plants are often crowded together.
Indoor Gardening For Year Round Planting
Residential gardening is under the huge scope of indoor gardening. Other types under this category include the gardens of conservatories, greenhouses and academic institutions. Systems for heating and air conditioning may also be found for certain breeds of plants. If you are the type of gardener who really loves cultivating plants in and out of season, then indoor gardening is for you.
Non-Traditional Water Gardening
If you want to garden with minimal supervision and love water organisms, then water gardening is for you. This is a bit of a challenge for most gardeners because it usually doesn't involve the initial conditions of other traditional gardening techniques. The novelty of water gardening appeals only to those who have ample water facilities to cultivate this type of gardening style.
Community Gardening For Group Efforts
If you are motivated by group efforts, community gardening may be for you. It involves concentrated efforts of the different members of the community to be able to help make a greener place. It involves a huge scope, but the members of the community are given autonomy to style their areas in whichever way they choose.
If Your Gardening Style Is For Growing Vegetables ...
Vegetable growing is something that has appealed to me since I was very little. My parents were never into growing vegetables. They had a lot of money and grew up in a very crowded area. As a result, instead of growing organic vegetables in pots, They would simply buy them from some expensive gourmet food store.
Although they taught me a love good food that I keep to this day, they didn't teach me how to make it. When I got on my own, I felt sort of at a loss. That is why I decide to grow a vegetable garden last year.
I had a friend who has been into growing vegetables in pots for years. He told me that the key is to start off slowly. The first time that you grow vegetables, you should start with a few easy strains. Growing tomatoes provided that you have adequate room for them is fairly easy. They require full sunlight and moderate water. If you provide them with that, they will grow big and juicy.
Vegetables For Limited Time And Effort
Other easy growing vegetables include carrots, onions, sugar snap peas, and basically any form of tuber. Growing lettuce is also very easy, but getting a very good yield out of it and stopping pests from consuming it is pretty difficult.
If you really want to, you can also grow your own potatoes, but I wouldn't recommend it. Potatoes are so cheap and take up so much room to grow that you would be better off growing something a little bit more valuable.
Vegetable Gardening For An All Year Food Supply
If you time things right, you can have several different growing seasons in your house. The way I like to do it is to start an herb garden early in the spring. By the time the vegetables are growing, I have plenty of herbs to flavor dishes with. I have fresh basil, parsley, cilantro, and a few other ones. I can cook up carrots, greens, and my delicious tomatoes in a fresh herbal dish.
Why Grow A Vegetable Garden?
The big point of growing vegetables is to have good food to eat. As such, you should be careful not to waste the vegetables you grow. Once you have them ripe and ready the plant, research some good recipes. Really put your time into it. After all, if it is worth doing, it is worth doing right. You'll be surprised at how wonderful your results are. The meals that you make yourself are the best meals you can have, and healthy too!!
